Lexus LS is Rethinking Safety

The arrival of the next-generation of the 2018 Lexus LS is right around the corner. This new LS makes design breakthroughs that will change the shape of the entire Lexus brand, using new curvaceous lines and an aggressive front end. But more important than the new designs, is Lexus safety upgrades.

Lexus has stepped-up with their safety features to set them apart from the competition. There are main safety features that are planned for the 2018 Lexus LS, pre-crash auto-steering, an advanced heads-up display and intersection blind-spot detection. The new safety features will work along with the previous Lexus Safety System +.

With the pre-crash auto-steering just doesn’t brake before the vehicle before the a crash, it also steers the LS around the obstacle. The emergency auto-steering function guides the Lexus around cars in an impending collision around pedestrians. The current auto-braking system that Lexus uses can stop the vehicle before impact if it is going less than 37 mph. Auto-steering adds an additional measure of crash avoidance, especially in cases when a person might unexpectedly dash into the street.

The second advance comes in the updated head-up display. Lexus says the color display, which presents projected data on the windshield, is also the world's largest. The new version also warns of pedestrians ahead. The pedestrian sensor system combines a stereo camera with millimeter-wave radar to improve performance at night when darkness limits camera vision.

The third new feature is an intersection blind-spot detection technology that alerts the driver to vehicles coming from either side in hard-to-navigate crossroads. It uses millimeter-wave radar positioned at the front of the LS to look around corners for dangerous oncoming traffic. The safety system then alerts the driver through the head-up display.

Lexus has said that  the LS will make a "strong safety statement" by bundling the new safety technologies with Lexus Safety System + and making them standard. Keep a look out at our Inventory for the 2018 LS and contact us now to schedule a test drive.
