2017 Lexus ES

The 2017 Lexus ES makes a name for itself with a sharp design, a spacious cabin, premium standard safety features, and a slew of convenient features. Comfort is king with this luxury sedan.

Once the epitome of a conventional sedan, the current-generation Lexus ES has taken on a bold new look with sleek lines and the aggressive Lexus spindle grille. The endless black grille paired with flared fenders and narrow windows give this Lexus a tough masculine look, and the flowing lines from nose to tail create an overall dynamic design.

The interior is aptly ripe with sumptuous and classy materials. Among these exclusive touches are matte finish bamboo accents, hand sanded steering wheel trim, flaxen upholstery, and elegant contrast stitching. Careful consideration is evident throughout the cabin, and though its design is very European, the comfort and quality is undoubtedly universally appealing.

The 2017 ES comes with a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. According to EPA estimates, it delivers 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is impressively economical for its class. The V6 engine is a refined favorite that provides more than enough power; and its resounding growl isn’t going to let you forget about it. There are three driving modes: Eco, Normal, or Sport. Eco mode provides better fuel economy with slightly reduced throttle response, while Sport mode delivers seamless power with aggressive transmission shifts.

The Lexus ES has been given some notable safety upgrades this year. The Lexus Safety System+ package, introduced last year as an option, is now standard on every ES. The system includes Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist, Intelligent High Beam (IHB) and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

Amongst an entire market aspiring to become the most convincing sports car doppelganger, Lexus ES sits confidently in luxurious reliability. If you’re prone to stress on the road, the ES may be your best bet. The ride quality is top notch, and sound isolation is excellent. Recent improvements to the suspension result in an even better ride over previous model years. The ES is quite possibly the coziest of the sedans in the market, and it’s modestly prices as well. 2017 Lexus IS

Lexus is consistently keen on producing quality vehicles with stellar luxury and reliability. The IS, now in its third generation, stands strong in upholding Lexus’ grand reputation. The IS could easily be considered the catalyst of the recent grille revolution, and 2017s model is no exception. The 2017 Lexus IS has been given some key exterior design enhancements as well as improvements in steering and drive that have undeniably improved its overall value.

The exterior has received some minor upgrades; like new chrome exhaust tips and LED headlights with sleekly lit accents underneath. However, the IS really shines through its meticulously designed spindle grille. The all black grille tapers down just under the headlights, creating a sharp hourglass that unapologetically drapes down over the fascia. The grille is certainly eye catching, and will often provoke curiosity from unassuming onlookers.

The previously additional Lexus Safety System+ now comes standard on all models. In addition to the newly standard Lexus Safety System+ on all 2017 Lexus IS models, you also start off with a moonroof, HID headlights with LED running lights, LED fog lights and 17-inch wheels. Push-button start, keyless entry and Bluetooth are also standard. There's an 8-speaker audio system that delivers rich sound throughout the cabin, and an enlarged 7-inch VGA screen on the dash to improve the consoles ease of use. There’s also plenty of connectivity to take advantage of, as well as a plethora of USB and auxiliary inputs throughout the cabin.

Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0 L inline four cylinder engine with svelte variable valve timing. The IS all-wheel drive models are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, while rear-wheel drive models boast the same quick-shifting, eight-speed Sport Direct-Shift transmission used in Lexus F models. In addition to including downshift throttle-blipping for more precise shifting and quicker response, the rear-wheel drive IS models are so advanced that their shifting varies with G-forces, allowing a lower gear to be held throughout the turn, providing maximum response when accelerating out. If the new IS is boasting anything, it’s the new performance. Lexus isn’t by any means a sport car manufacturer, but this car offers an intensive and fun driving experience for those who desire it alongside reliability and value.
